The 2018 New York Mets are going in the history books.

Against the Phillies, the Mets broke their franchise record for runs (24) and hits (25). Over their last two games, they scored more than they have over a two-game span (40).

The 2018 Mets shatter the previous two-game record held by the 1990 edition, who scored 34 runs across two games at Wrigley against the Cubs, winning 19-8 then 15-10.

The Mets had an inning in each game in which they scored nine runs or more. They knocked two grand slams, one from Jose Bautista and one from Kevin Plawecki.

Over the two games, Bautista went 4-7 with a double, home run and eight RBI. Plawecki went 5-8 with a double, triple, home run and 7 RBI. Even Jerry Blevins got in on the action, smacking his first career hit.

The Mets are the first team since the 1953 Red Sox to score 40 runs in two games.
