"We are open to all options at this point since we haven't concluded that process. Still trying to win home field."

On Wednesday afternoon, I asked Brian Cashman if the Yankees were open to bullpenning the wild card game against Oakland next Wednesday by using a reliever as a starting pitcher. Here was his interesting answer:

Q: "Will you consider using a reliever as an opener for the wild card game, or are you 100% committed to a starting pitcher?"

Cashman: "We are open to all options at this point since we haven't concluded that process. Still trying to win home field."

Speaking around the same time on ESPN radio's the Michael Kay Show, manager Aaron Boone downplayed the idea of using an opener. But the GM is not willing to rule anything out, at least not publicly.

A while back, we asked Boone about using an opener in the wild card game, and he didn't rule it out, either.
