Nets Takeaways from Saturday's 112-108 loss to the 76ers in Game 4

Brooklyn couldn't hold the lead late in this playoff thriller

Tensions were high in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon, but the heat of the moment didn't work in the home team's favor. The Nets were up for most of the second half, but they couldn't close out the 76ers in a 112-108 loss in Game 4 of this First Round matchup. >> Box score

Five things to know about Saturday's game...

1) There was a point in the second half when the Nets were leading for 23 straight minutes. However, the Sixers eventually took the lead with a Joel Embiid layup with 2:54 remaining. From there, the Nets and 76ers traded buckets with D'Angelo Russell draining a three with 1:26 remaining to regain the lead. But Mike Scott hit the eventual game-winner, a dagger three in the corner. On the ensuing possession, Russell found Jarrett Allen on the pick-and-roll, and he would've had a clear lane to the rim if he caught the pass cleanly. Instead, the ball was fumbled and Allen was swarmed by Sixers, who took it away. 

2) This budding rivalry hit its peak in the third quarter when Jared Dudley and Jimmy Butler were ejected in what turned into a large scuffle on the court. After Embiid fouled Allen hard, Dudley flew it and pushed Embiid. Butler immediately rushed over and did the same to Dudley, which started a commotion under the rim. Dudley, Butler, and Ben Simmons flew into the stands behind the hoop where each team eventually separated from each other. The back-and-forth trash talk certainly aided in this incident, as Dudley was chirping all game long. 

3) Caris LeVert had a great game for the Nets. He led the team with 25 points, and collected five boards and six assists as well. He also showed off his handles, making James Ennis look lost with a crossover in the second half. He also hit him with a nice move to drain a three on him as well. 

4) Russell did a little of everything as the floor general, tallying 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals on the night. 

5) Embiid certainly made an impact after missing Game 3 entirely. He had a game-high 31 points wtih 16 boards for a double-double. On the defensive end, he was just as stout with six blocks and two steals too. Tobias Harris was also a menace with 24 points on 10-for-20 shooting, eight rebounds, and six assists.

Down 3-1 now, the Nets will play for their season in a must-win Game 5 on Tuesday in Philadelphia at 8 p.m.
