Knicks' 2018 first-rounder F Kevin Knox is all about winning, and he has made that known before stepping foot on the Madison Square Garden court. He has already said the playoffs isn't out of reach this season despite what some might say, and when asked about his personal goals, he reverts back to wins.
He took it up a notch in a wide-ranging interview with Complex by giving a time stamp for when he believe the Larry O'Brien Trophy -- or the NBA Finals title -- will be back in New York again.
"I feel like that's something we can definitely do in the next five years," he said.
Knox has not shied away from making claims like this, which is why Knicks fans have come to like their new rookie. His play has also garnered much praise, and he will be an integral part in bringing the Knicks to the Finals whenever that may be.
The Knicks will need to add some key pieces -- preferably top free agents like Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Kawhi Leonard to name a few 2019 candidates -- to become a true contender out of the East. They would also need Kristaps Porzingis to be healthy, and stay that way through a full 82-game season, which he has yet to do.
But, coming into an organization in rebuild mode at the moment, Knox is all-in on transforming the Knicks' culture back to the powerhouse it once was.
"I know it gets pretty crazy in there," he said at Knicks Media Day on Monday, "so I'm really looking forward to stepping on the Madison Square Garden [floor] and playing in front of the fans. It's going to be a great experience.
"I worked really hard to be where I'm at now so I'm definitely ready to embrace that challenge."
