Jason Vargas was asked again after Wednesday night's loss to the Phillies to give his side of the story surrounding the clubhouse altercation with a reporter last week.

According to reports, Mets manager Mickey Callaway got into a shouting match with Newsday reporter Tim Healey in the visitor's clubhouse in Chicago. Eventually Vargas became involved, as well.

Callaway addressed the incident on Monday, needing to meet with reporters a second time to explain that he had apologized to Healey.

Vargas took a different approach on Monday, declining to take questions about what happened.

After the left-handed pitcher gave a very brief statement following Sunday's events, he had more to say on Wednesday.

"It was an unfortunate situation. I don't think all of the information was really out there," Vargas said. "I don't think that this is the time to get into that, but I think that anybody who knows me or anybody who's played with me though the duration of my career, there's never been a situation like that, so to think that it just happened out of the blue would be foolish. For the info to be out there like that and for one side to be told, that's just not it.

"The organization made a statement, we put an end to it, but I think it's pretty obvious that all of the info wasn't out there."
