Just one day after video surfaced of Jamal Adams saying he's "trying" to get to Dallas to play for the Cowboys, he's on Twitter to once again show everyone that his days as a Jet are over. At least in his head.
Adams responded to a tweet by his closest teammate in FS Marcus Maye that read, "I been getting all this new fake love now!!! Smh," and it sounded a lot like a goodbye text. Take a look for yourself...
"I'ma miss balling with u the most. Believe that!," Adams said. "Love you forever brotha."
While Adams may believe his last down has been played with the Jets, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano has been reporting the Jets want to hold on to Adams. Adams still has two years left on his rookie deal (the Jets should be expected to pick up his fifth-year option), and there's two tag years after that, too. Four years of team control.
Also, considering the current environment with the coronavirus pandemic and how that might impact the cap in the future, it's hard to be thinking about a mega-extension for a player even as good as Adams right now.
However, it seems Adams is completely checked out of being in New York next season. Even if the Jets don't trade him, there could be another Jalen Ramsey or Le'Veon Bell situation where he simply bites the bullet and sits out.
