Yankees GM Brian Cashman said this offseason one of his priorities was to trade RHP Sonny Gray, and one team that has reportedly showed continued interest is the Milwaukee Brewers.

Milwaukee has "remained prominent" in trade discussions regarding Gray, according to Fox Sports' Jon Morosi, after the Winter Meetings ended, while the Cincinnati Reds, who have since acquired pitchers Tanner Roark and Alex Wood, have slowed their interest.

Cashman said at the Winter Meetings that 11 different teams have expressed interest in Gray, a 29-year-old starter who was relegated to the bullpen in 2018 after his immense struggles on the mound.

Gray went 11-9 with a 4.90 ERA in 30 games (23 starts) last season with 123 strikeouts in 130 1/3 innings. He had nine starts in which he failed to throw five innings.

But Gray, who can become a free agent in 2020, is 59-52 with a 3.66 ERA in his career, which includes his time spent with the Oakland A's, and Cashman had previously said he wanted to find the right deal to maximize Gray's value.

"I've had a lot of interesting dialogue, whether it's for prospects, whether it's for major leauge, our need for their need," Cashman said in November. "Whether it's part of a complicated, larger situation that involves prospects and major leaguers going both ways. So I think we've had a little bit of experience with all aspects of it."

The Yankees had previously asked the Reds for one of their top outfield prospects earlier in December, indicating Cashman still values Gray highly despite saying he didn't think New York was the right fit for him.

The Brewers have been one of the teams interested in Gray for nearly a month.
