The situation with the Yankees and free agent starting pitching targets Patrick Corbin and J.A Happ appears on track to resolve itself within a week or less.

The Yankees met with Corbin in New York on Thursday, but the sides were not close to a deal after. There continues to be strong mutual interest between the player and team.

But the Phillies are also aggressively pursuing Corbin, and the Yankees may still like Happ as an alternative, according to major league sources.

While Corbin clearly has higher-end stuff, Happ has a long track record of success. The question comes down to this: Would you rather give Corbin six years or Happ two or three years?

The Yankees continue to weigh that choice.
