In his first season with the Rangers, Artemi Panarin will head to his first NHL All-Star game. The team announced on Monday that the forward was selected to represent the team at the 2020 game.
Panarin currently sits eighth in the NHL in points with 51 (21 goals, 30 assists).
The 28-year-old also far and away leads his team in points this season. Ryan Strome ranks second on the Rangers in points with 35. Mika Zibanejad is second in goals with 15.
Panarin was the Rangers' marquee singing during free agency this past offseason. The team inked him to a seven-year, $81.5 million deal.
While his first All-Star game nod in his five-year career, Panarin has two previous 30-goal seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks and two 80-plus point seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The NHL's All-Star format requires every team to be represented at the game, making prior years more difficult for him to crack the roster.
This year's All-Star weekend will take place in St. Louis. The skills competition will take place on Jan. 24 with the All-Star Game taking place on Jan. 25.
