Coming on as the Mets new manager, Carlos Beltran will be sure to reach out to his players throughout the offseason to touch base before Spring Training gets underway.
Well, his call to RHP Marcus Stroman was on Tuesday, and Stroman definitely liked what he heard.
Stroman went to his Twitter to explain how his conversation with Beltran showed him how much "insight and knowledge" he has.
Just talked to @carlosbeltran15 on the phone. Wow wow wow. The insight and knowledge is insane. Beyond excited to compete for and learn from this man in 2020! @Mets

And Stroman wasn't finished yet. He added this...
No time for any negative talk of my new manager. Thankful for him. Historical legend in the game of baseball. The depth of knowledge he possess is insurmountable. It's an honor for me to compete for this man. Hall of Famer. One of the best to ever do it. Crazy excited for 2020!

One of Beltran's top qualities when hired was his knack for relating to players to go along with his baseball knowledge. Stroman's reaction to his phone call with his new manager may be the same of other Mets as well based off that ability.
Last season, Stroman joined the Mets after GM Brodie Van Wagenen struck a deal with the Blue Jays before the trade deadline, and pitched to the tune of a 3.77 ERA over 11 starts.
