Mets RHP Zack Wheeler allowed just two runs in 6 2/3 innings, but the Mets' bullpen allowed six runs in a span of two innings in the Mets' 8-6 loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

The Mets built a 5-0 lead for Wheeler, who did not allow a hit until the fourth inning. Former Met Curtis Granderson ripped an RBI double to right field in the bottom of the fifth to put Toronto on the board, making it 5-1.

In the seventh, Wheeler struck out Russell Martin and allowed a single before he was replaced by Anthony Swarzak, who wound up allowing Wheeler's baserunner to score.

Swarzak, Robert Gsellman, and Tim Peterson combined to allow six runs in less than two innings to squander the Mets' lead.

"It's frustrating," Wheeler said after the game. "Nothing on the bullpen, they are out there battling too. This hasn't went their way. Like I said last time, I'll give it to them any time. I know they are battling," Wheeler said. "They are out there working hard in between games and stuff, hopefully they will come around and things will mesh."

Wheeler threw 107 pitches, marking the third outing in which he has thrown at least 100 pitches. He and struck out five batters while walking three.

The 28-year-old Wheeler has a 4.36 ERA after 16 starts for the Mets this season.
