The results are back from Robinson Cano's MRI and the news is not great.

The Mets second baseman has a torn left hamstring and there is no timetable on his return. It will not require surgery, however, Cano is expected to miss several weeks and could be in danger of being out the remainder of the season.

The Mets announced the MRI results Monday evening during the second game of a doubleheader against the Miami Marlins and hours after they officially placed Cano on the 10-day IL with what was originally considered to be a left hamstring strain, an injury he sustained while trying to dig out his third double of the day.

Rounding first, Cano pulled up in the middle of the basepath only to get tagged out as he winced in pain. He would limp back to the dugout, and be taken out of the game immediately.

"I mean I was running and felt something tight on my left side and I stopped, but we don't know what it is yet," Cano said after the game. "We just gotta get it checked out tomorrow."

SNY's Keith Hernandez said it perfectly during the broadcast when he said, "What a shame." He says that knowing Cano has had a solid second half thus far, and it seemed that he was turning the corner after a rough first half. He was slashing .263/.294/.538 with six homers and 13 RBI coming into the game. This came after a first half that saw four homers and 18 RBI over his first 65 games with the Mets.

"Obviously that's a tough one. He started swinging the bat well," Mickey Callaway said about Cano. "It's tough."

The corresponding move for Cano was Luis Guillorme being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. He was pulled during his game yesterday as Cano got hurt, with the Mets knowing that he needed to be called up.

Overall, Cano is hitting .252/.295/.415 with 10 homers and 32 RBI in his first season with the Mets.
