It's Super Mario season in New York.
After a career-best performance against the Magic on Wednesday night, Mario Hezonja will start at point guard for the Knicks on Friday against the Houston Rockets.
The Knicks are without four point guards -- Emmanuel Mudiay, Frank Ntilikina, Kadeem Allen and Dennis Smith Jr. -- because of injury and Hezonja, typically a forward, will play the position for the first time since his rookie season with the Magic.
The 24-year-old scored a career-high 29 points on 11-of-22 from the field shooting against his former team on Wednesday night and also added nine rebounds, five assists and two steals in about 34 minutes of playing time.
"I'm just really happy for him," head coach David Fizdale said after the game, per The Post's Marc Berman. "I told him: Perform for Orlando. He came out and showed what he can do."
