Kevin Knox is inching closer to returning to the Knicks lineup as the rookie forward finishes up his recovery from a left ankle sprain.
Knicks coach David Fizdale said Knox will not play Wednesday against the Pacers, but the 19-year-old will travel with the team to Dallas for Friday's game against the Mavericks, according to ESPN's Ian Begley. The team said Knox is "making good progress" and that he has advanced to participating in shooting and non-contact drills.
Knox's father, Kevin Knox Sr., told the New York Post on Sunday that his son is expected to return sometime between Nov. 2-10. The Knicks' 2018 first-round pick suffered the injury, which his father called a "Grade 2" sprain, on Oct. 20 against the Celtics.
Knox scored 10 points in his NBA debut against the Hawks before tallying 17 points against the Nets. The sprain occurred early in his third game, a home loss to Boston.
