LeBron James wants Carmelo Anthony to join him in Hollywood, according to a report.
A source told The Athletic's Joe Vardon that James is seeking the former Knicks star's services with the Lakers, though James has yet to put in a request to Los Angeles president Magic Johnson or GM Rob Pelinka.
The 34-year-old Anthony remains on the Rockets' payroll on a league-minimum $2.4 million, but he and Houston parted ways last month after just 10 games this season. Anthony can't be traded until at least Dec. 15.
Anthony has been on three teams since the start of last season. The Knicks traded him to the Thunder before the start of the 2017 campaign, who then dealt him to the Hawks and he was subsequently cut.
Anthony averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds with the Rockets this year.
But James still has faith in his buddy, per the report. Though winners in their last four games, the Lakers are working through injuries. James reportedly envisions Anthony as coming in to shed his veteran wisdom on a young team.
