With free agency well underway on Monday, the Jets are reportedly among teams looking into CB Prince Amukamara's market, per The Athletic's Connor Hughes.

SNY's Ralph Vacchiano alluded to Amukamara being an option for them if they didn't want to look into the top tier options of Byron Jones and James Bradberry, two players who are now off the market. Bradberry signed a three-year deal with the Giants, and the Jets will be playing against Jones, who signed a massive deal with the Dolphins.

Amukamara, 30, would cost much less but is still a reliable option as an outside corner. As Hughes points out, his Pro Football Focus grades have been consistent and solid over the past three seasons at 71.5, 77.1 and 70.5.

Last season with the Bears, Amukamara produced 53 tackles, 10 passes defended, and one forced fumble over 15 starts. In 2018, he had three interceptions with one pick-six, 12 passes defended, two forced fumbles and 66 combined tackles.

So the veteran can certainly step right into a starting role with the Jets, who desperately need help in their secondary. They're likely to get Trumaine Johnson's terrible contract off the books by cutting him, and Darryl Roberts will follow. Brian Poole, their best free agent signee last offseason, is once again on the market so they might lose him.

That leaves Bless Austin and Nate Hairston has the starters at the moment. So a change is definitely coming, and Amukamara is one viable option. It's also worth noting that he knows how to play at MetLife Stadium after spending five seasons with the Giants from 2011-2015 after being drafted 19th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft.
