Giants CB Janoris Jenkins on Sunday spoke publicly for the first time about the death of his close friend and the charges against his brother for his alleged involvement in the death.

"I haven't talked to [my brother], to be honest," said Jenkins, according to ESPN. The 29-year-old CB described the incident as "shocking."

"But I will to see where his head was at. As far as that, I'll just leave that off the field."

Jenkins' older brother, William, was charged with manslaughter after Roosevelt "Trypps Beatz" Rene's body was found in Jenkins' New Jersey home.

Jenkins' only other comments on the situation came via an Instagram post earlier in July.

Jenkins said he is putting the incident aside and looking forward to his season with the Giants.

"I understand I have to focus on my job," he said. "Being here is more important. Training hard and going hard is more important."

Jenkins signed a five-year, $62.5 million deal with the Giants back in 2016. Last season, he totaled 26 tackles, three interceptions, and two returned for touchdown over nine games.
