Joe Judge has another endorsement from a former player, as DE Kyle Van Noy had glowing remarks for him on the latest version of The Pat McAfee Show.
Van Noy is heading into free agency after spending the past three and a half seasons with the Patriots. It was with New England that Van Noy got to see just how obsessed Judge is with the game.
Rob Gronkowski called Judge "out of control," and that sort of energy is something Van Noy can definitely agree with.
"I think so. He's a ball of energy," the seven-year veteran said. "If he can take his energy he has and consistently, each and every day, line it up with that positive energy and not go, 'Woo woo,' all over the place, I think they're going to be really, really good because he's a really good coach.
"That's not me selling him, that's just straight fact. He loves football."
And just as he was finishing his interview, Van Noy dropped this...
"I'm excited for him with the Giants. Go Giants, right?"
As a free agent, it doesn't hurt to say things like this when you get the chance. But would Van Noy make sense to sign with the Giants?
Absolutely if you look at his production over the past few seasons. Van Noy had a career high 6.5 sacks in 2019, and secured another career high with 92 combined tackles in 2018 on his way to his second Super Bowl title.
After beginning his career in Detroit, Van Noy found his way when he joined the Patriots, and Judge got to see that first-hand. He may not be at the top tier of available free agent edge rushers, but at 29 years old, Van Noy would bring experience and consistency to whoever he signs with. And having those Super Bowls under his belt is also a great asset, especially after capturing three sacks, 18 combined tackles, and four quarterback hits in last year's playoffs.
It's interesting to think about as the NFL season has officially come to a close, and free agency is around the corner. Van Noy sounds like he would definitely listen to the Giants, and GM Dave Gettleman may come calling after hearing this.
