Former Giant Barry Cofield caught with heroin

Ex-Giant D-Lineman Barry Cofield arrested early Tuesday morning

Former Giants and Redskins defensive linemen Barry Cofield was arrested in Lake Mary on early Tuesday morning. Cofield was found passed out behind the wheel of his Cadillac around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 4 in Florida. 

Cofield, who started at least 15 games in every season from 2006 to 2013, was charged with possession of heroin, fleeing and eluding, and aggravated assault on a police officer according the Orlando Sentinel.

After refusing to exit his vehicle, authorities found two small bags of red powdery substance. These small bags, which were in his pocket, tested positive for heroin.

The Northwestern product was drafted in the fourth round by the Giants in the 2006 draft. The 6'3, 305 lb lineman totalled 19.5 sacks in his career while recording 10.5 with the Giants. Cofield last played for the Giants in 2015 appearing in three games during that season.
