The Yankees expect C Gary Sanchez (groin) to play rehab games next week, reports Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Sanchez hit in the cage and did catching work on Monday. He does not feel any pain, according to Hoch, but has yet to run full speed or hit in the field.

Manager Aaron Boone said before Monday's game that a timeline for Sanchez's return remains in line with GM Brian Cashman's original prediction that he would return in the final week of August or first week of September.

"Now that we are getting into baseball activities with some urgency, we will start to get a better feel for that,'' Boone said, according to the New York Post. "That's a fair timeline and it looks very much like he is on that trajectory.''

In 66 games with the Yankees this season, Sanchez is hitting .188 with 14 home runs and 42 RBI.
