UConn football fires defensive coordinator Billy Crocker

Crocker is among four coaches who will not be retained

UConn football head coach Randy Edsall shook up his coaching staff on Friday morning. 

Edsall announced that defensive coordinator Billy Crocker, defensive backs caoch Curome Cox, director of football strength and conditioning Eric Klein and assistant strength and conditioning coach J.D. Mehlhorn will not be retained. 

UConn is coming off a 1-11 season where they allowed a NCAA Division I record-breaking average of 50.42 points per game and 617.4 yards per game. 

"After evaluating the program throughout the season and during the recruiting process, I decided to make these changes to my staff," Edsall said in a statement. "I appreciate all the work these four men have done and thank them for their effort and dedication during their time at UConn."

Edsall also announced offensive coordinator John Dunn will hold the title of associate head coach, as well as keeping his duties as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
