9/7/18 | While describing his skill level, Gordie Clark said that while Buchnevich will score on a slap shot once in a while, "his passing ability is on another planet." (SI)

Buchnevich's agent said that when Buchnevich feels he has been "slighted" it puts him in a bad mood and that "when he's pissed off, he can produce." (SI)

Alain Vigneault said of Buchnevich in March, "there is some learning, there is some adjustments, Buchie is going through that like any young player like I've had in my career. There is a learning curve, peaks and valleys and Buchie is a lot like younger players. There is a tremendous amount of upside with that young man, we just have to work with him to get it more consistent."

Vigneault said that when Buchnevich struggles it is usually because of his decisions with the puck and that "you get to making the right plays by working on your game, improving your knowledge and understanding and there are less of those when you become a better and more experienced player."

7/24/18 | While speaking about the Rangers rebuild, GM Jeff Gorton said that he can see this as a "big year" for Pavel Buchnevich. (MSG)

Gorton said that David Quinn will bring in a new system for Buchnevich, and the team, to play, and that the Russian will have "bigger minutes. (MSG)

  • As a rookie, Buchnevich had 8 goals, 12 assists and 13:16 per game in 41 games.
  • Last season he had 14 goals and 29 assists and 15:01 per game in 74 games.

Gorton said that Buchnevich will be a "top-six forward" for a long time and should be able to build on the 43 point season he had last year. (MSG)

Buchnevich, 23, had 20 points in his first 25 games last season.

He is an RFA after this coming season.

Adam Rotter: Buchnevich is one of the players that can really help accelerate the Rangers rebuild. He's as skilled as anyone on the roster and has shown good chemistry in the past with Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad. He will likely start in that spot or on the opposite side of, probably, Mats Zuccarello, and Filip Chytil in the middle. He looked more confidence and comfortable right from training camp last year and the Rangers have to hope that he will take the same kind of step up again this year. He's still so young at 23 that he can really be a big part of the long-term future for the Rangers. He just needs to find his consistency and hopefully produce at the level that his skill indicates that he can.
