As the Winter Meetings creep closer and closer by the day, speculation continues to swirl around about what Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen has planned this offseason.
One rumor that came about via MLB Network's Jon Heyman was the Mets showing interest in a trade for Starling Marte. Though it has not been indicated that Marte is on the trade block, Van Wagenen may talk to Pirates GM Ben Cherington to propose some trade packages.
SNY's Jim Duquette put together his own trade package of some Mets top prospects in INF Andres Gimenez, RHP Franklyn Kilome, and either INF Mark Vientos or LHP David Peterson in exchange for Marte. And, well, it caused a little stir.
