In the burgeoning rivalry between Pete Alonso and Chris Paddack, Alonso fired the latest salvo -- not with his mouth, with his bat. And Alonso now has the upper hand.

That was made clear by the furious look on Paddack's face Tuesday night after Alonso blasted a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning to break a tie and give the Mets a two-run lead. The Mets held on for a 7-6 win

Paddack got the best of Alonso the night before, but Alonso showed Paddack why he was named National League Rookie of the Month in April by coming through in the clutch yet again with a monster homer. Alonso had called Tuesday's game a "must win," and then he did his part to make it happen.
