Jeff McNeil has picked up this season right where he left off during his blistering rookie campaign, coming in to Thursday's game hitting a ridiculous .351/.414/.514 in 67 games.

While McNeil has pushed for the league-lead in batting average and become a near-lock to be selected as a reserve to the All-Star Game, he broke a 36-year-old MLB record on Wednesday night.

When McNeil doubled on Wednesday night in his 475th career at-bat, it was his 162nd career hit -- the highest total by any active major leaguer and the most in the majors since Wade Boggs had 166 hits in his first 475 at-bats from 1982-1983, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Some more incredible McNeil stats:

  • Leads the majors with .377 batting average on the road
  • Is batting .367 with a .433 OBP against left-handed pitchers
  • Is second in the majors in batting average, fourth in OBP, and tied for fifth with 30 multi-hit games
  • Has 50 multi-hit games in his first130 career games
