The Mets hired former MLB manager Jim Riggleman as their next bench coach, the team announced Monday night.
"I'm excited to have Jim's knowledge alongside me," Mets manager Mickey Callaway said in a statement. "He'll be a tremendous resource for me and the entire coaching staff."
Riggleman served as Reds interim manager after Cincinnati fired Bryan Price midway through the 2018 season.
The 65-year-old Riggleman went 726-904 as a manager in his career, having stints with the Padres, Cubs, Mariners and Nationals. He had been with the Reds organization since 2012 and was the team's third base coach from 2015 to 2018.
"Jim brings a wealth of experience to the coaching staff," Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen said in a statement. "His familiarity with the National League will be a great asset."
Riggleman replaces Gary Disarcina, who became the Mets' third base coach when Van Wagenen reorganized the team's coaching staff.
