The Mets will not be renewing the contract of Edgardo Alfonzo, who managed the Short-Season A-ball Brooklyn Cyclones to the New York Penn League championship in 2019, SNY's Andy Martino confirmed.
Alfonzo will remain with the team as a club ambassador, according to Martino.
The 45-year-old Alfonzo had been working for the Cyclones since 2014, when he was their bench coach -- a role that he held until 2016.
He became manager of the Cyclones in 2017.
Alfonzo played with the Mets from 1995 to 2002 and had his best seasons during the team's playoff years in 1999 and 2000.
