The Islanders announced they signed forward Valtteri Filppula to a one-year deal on Sunday.
Filppula, 34, totaled 11 goals and 22 assists in 81 games for the Philadelphia Flyers last season.
The 13-year veteran has scored 168 goals and 295 assists in 876 career games with the Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings since debuting in the 2005-06 season.
New York also announced it signed Leo Komarov to a four-year deal after it lost out on the John Tavares sweepstakes.
