The Mets are looking to build off Jason Vargas' shutout last night, as they finish their series against the Giants with a Thursday matinee at 12:10 p.m. on SNY.
Mets notes
Mickey Callaway gave an update on Robinson Cano, who left the game last night in the fourth inning with quad tightness. He is still being evaluated, but Callaway is optimistic he will be a pinch-hit option today. ...Vargas threw his 13th career complete game last night, and his eighth career shutout. ...Mets pitchers are batting .216 with four homers, four doubles and eight RBI. That average makes them the best in the National League. ...Dom Smith is hitting .458 with two homers, two doubles and two RBI in his last 12 games.

RHP Shaun Anderson (0-1, 7.82 ERA), who also went deep in his last start. He allowed two runs on five hits while striking out four and walking one over seven innings. It was the longest outing of the 24-year-old's early MLB career, as this will be his fifth start of the season.
