The Yankees completed a two-game sweep in London of the Red Sox with a 12-8 win over Boston on Sunday. >> Box score
6 takeaways from Sunday's game...
1) After being held in check for the first six innings, the Yanks tallied nine runs in the seventh, with 14 batters coming to the plate. Gary Sanchez, Gio Urshela and DJ LeMahieu each had two-run hits in the inning.
2) Luis Cessa brought some order to the game hurling four scoreless innings. Cessa has had an uneven season to date, but his performance in this one allowed the Yankees to chip away and eventually take a lead in the ball game.
3) The Yankees were forced to use Stephan Tarpley as today's opener when Chad Green was used to complete the first inning of Saturday's game due to Masahiro Tanaka's implosion. Tarpley was trounced by the Red Sox, allowing three home runs in a row and put the Yanks in an early 4-0 deficit.
4) Gleyber Torres recorded his 200th MLB hit (a seventh-inning single), making him the youngest Yankee to reach that mark since Mickey Mantle.
5) The Yankees club streak of hitting home runs was extended by Didi Gregorius, who launched his third home run of the season in the eighth inning.
6) Things got a little dicey for the Yankees in the eighth inning. Chance Adams entered the game and allowed three runs to score before he was relieved by Zack Britton, who allowed two more of Adams' runners to score before loading the bases. Britton escaped the jame by getting Rafael Devers to ground out to first.
