STORRS -- In the second half of the UConn women's basketball's game on Saturday against Houston, senior Katie Lou Samuelson went diving for a loose ball and collided with a opposing player. Samuelson immediately rolled over in pain and stayed down on the court as Gampel Pavilion went dead silent.

She eventually walked off the court under her own power before heading into the locker room with team trainer Janelle Francisco.

"I don't know exactly what happened," Samuelson said on the play that caused the injury. "I just got hit where my muscle just spasmed and tightened up right after."

Samuelson tried to return briefly in the second half but exited rather quickly.

"I wanted to try getting back out there," she said. "Definitely once I started running up and down the court, it probably wasn't the best idea but it was senior day so I wanted to get out there and give myself a chance to see if it would loosen up but it didn't."

Head coach Geno Auriemma said Samuelson is dealing with back spasms and will be re-evaluated tomorrow. From there, they will decide if she will travel with the team down to Florida for the Huskies' season finale against USF on Monday.

"We'll see how she responds to it tomorrow," Auriemma said. "If she's good to go and can sit on the plane for a couple of hours, then she'll come. And if they tell me she can't, then she won't. So we'll know tomorrow."

If Samuelson does not make the trip, UConn will be without its second-best scorer. Kyla Irwin got two starts earlier in the season when Megan Walker missed a pair of games due to strep throat, but Olivia Nelson-Ododa has seen more playing time recently and could get the nod.
