In the 2009 NBA Draft, the Knicks had their eyes on Stephen Curry, hoping he would fall to them.

Curry admitted on Showtime's "All The Smoke" podcast, hosted by former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, that he had his eyes on the Knicks as well.

"When I got drafted, I wanted to go to New York," Curry said. "Thought I was going to New York, was in the green room, like, get to the eighth spot New York can get me. Then I got the call from Larry Riley (Warriors GM), like, alright, we're going to pick you in the seven spot."

The Golden State Warriors drafted Curry out of Davidson with the No. 7 overall pick, one pick before the Knicks selected.

With the No. 8 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Knicks took power forward Jordan Hill out of the University of Arizona. At 6-foot-10 inches and 232 pounds, the junior was projected by many to be a top five pick with comparisons to Chris Bosh.

Hill played just 24 games with the Knicks before getting traded to the Houston Rockets midseason.

Curry has gone on to become a two-time NBA MVP and three-time NBA champion with the Warriors.

Even his father, Dell, who played 16 seasons in the NBA, believed that Curry could've succeeded with the Knicks.

"The Warriors had some questionable characters on their team," Dell Curry said to the New York Times." The Knicks really needed a point guard, and we felt that Stephen would fit perfectly with a coach like Mike D'Antoni, playing that fast, up-and-down style. He loved the idea of playing at Madison Square Garden."

Curry was the third point guard selected in the draft, behind Ricky Rubio (No. 5) and Jonny Flynn (No. 6). There were also two All-Star point guards drafted after Curry: Jrue Holiday (No. 17) and Jeff Teague (No. 19).

The Knicks missed out on Curry, and have been searching for a star point guard since then. Now, it's just another "what could have been" moment for the Knicks.
