The Mets have decided to ramp up Carlos Carrasco through live batting practice sessions and simulation games, rather than actual game action, Luis Rojas told reporters on Tuesday.
Rojas said Carrasco will “maybe later in camp” get action in games, but the plan is for him to stick with practice.
“We’re gonna keep having him in live BPs and just building him up as we go,” Rojas said.
Carrasco was not at Clover Park on Tuesday, but Rojas insisted that Carrasco is “fine” and it was because he threw a side on Monday.
It’s an unorthodox method, and it has to do with Carrasco’s late arrival to camp, but Rojas and the Mets expect Carrasco to be ready for the start of the season.
