Mets president Sandy Alderson spent Wednesday and Thursday requesting permission to speak to several new candidates for the team’s opening at general manager.

Alderson has a policy of declining to reveal interviews and interview requests, but other league sources identified the following executives as part of that search: Boston Red Sox executive vice president and assistant GM Raquel Ferreira; Minnesota Twins assistant GM Daniel Adler; and Los Angeles Dodgers assistant general manager Jeff Kingston.

Kingston will remain with the Dodgers. The other two situations are in process.

There is said to be one current external candidate for president of baseball operations.

The Mets are also open to promoting internally. Acting GM Zack Scott remains on administrative leave but is set for trial Dec. 8 on a DUI charge.
