The Mets' busy offseason continued on Friday.

Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Mets will hire Jared Banner to become their new farm director.

Banner, 32, is a Brooklyn native who grew up as a Mets fans and was most recently the VP of player personnel for the Red Sox where he oversaw the scouting of professional players in international leagues.

Boston GM Dave Dombrowski had announced on Thursday that Banner was leaving the organization.

Banner is the latest front office addition for new GM Brodie Van Wagenen, who hired Adam Guttridge as assistant GM of systematic development and Allard Baird as vice president and assistant GM of scouting and player development.

Baird also comes from the Red Sox organization where he served as a mentor for Banner as senior VP of player personnel.

Banner joined the Red Sox shortly after graduating college from Amherst College -- where he played baseball and majored in psychology -- and met fellow Amherst alum and former Red Sox GM Ben Cherington.

While with the Red Sox, Banner was also a scout and was included in the managerial interviews that led to the hire of Alex Cora as well as participating in the arbitration process the last two offseasons.
