The Yankees (92-49, 9.5 GA in AL East) hit the road for 10 games as they start their trip with Friday's four-game series against the rival Boston Red Sox (75-65, 16.5 GB in AL East, 6.5 GB for second Wild Card) at 7:10 p.m. at Fenway Park.

Winners in eight of their past 10 games, the Yankees hit the road through next weekend after they won three-game series against the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers. In each of those sets, the Yankees dropped the opener before they bounced back and took their final two contests. The successful six-game homestand followed the Yankees' road series victories vs. the Dodgers and Mariners, taking two out of three against Los Angeles and sweeping Seattle.

After they mashed the Rangers in their 10-1 win Tuesday, the Yankees did enough Wednesday to take a 4-1 victory into the road trip. The Yankees squeaked out six hits, capitalizing on home runs from RF Aaron Judge and 2B Gleyber Torres before a timely RBI double by C Austin Romine capped off the gritty offensive performance. The production occurred alongside the Yankees' pitching, which featured six bullpen arms -- including opener RHP Chad Green (2-4, 4.84 ERA), who went 2.0 innings before RHP Luis Cessa (2-1, 3.82 ERA) logged 3.0 innings and got the win -- going the distance.

Torres tied C Gary Sanchez, who reset the Yankees' record for single-season home runs Tuesday, for the team lead in long balls with 34. Elsewhere among the Yankees' leaders, 1B/2B/3B DJ LeMahieu paces the team with a .331 batting average, 97 runs and 90 RBI out of the leadoff spot in the lineup.

Who is starting for the Yankees?

RHP Domingo German (17-3, 4.03 ERA) leads the MLB in wins, with two of those against the Red Sox. In three starts vs. Boston, German has gone 16.0 innings with a 4.50 ERA, striking out 24 while walking three.

After a loss Aug. 20 at the Athletics, German has bounced back in the Yankees' wins over the Los Angeles Dodgers (5-1, Aug. 25) and A's (4-3, Aug. 3), going 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA and 10 strikeouts to five walks over 11.0 innings.

Who is starting for the Red Sox?

RHP Jhoulys Chacin (3-10, 5.79 ERA) replaces LHP David Price (7-5, 4.28 ERA), who was supposed to start but got scratched with left wrist tightness, and makes his Red Sox debut as Boston relies on its bullpen. With the Red Sox since Saturday, Chacin spent the past two years in Milwaukee before being released Aug. 26 by the Brewers.

In 19 starts with the Brewers, Chacin pitched 88.2 innings, striking out 80 and walking 39. Chacin's latest start came July 24, lasting 3.0 innings in the Brewer's 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out five and walking one with a hit batter.

Upcoming schedule

The Yankees continue their four-game series Saturday at 4:05 p.m. with LHP J.A. Happ (11-8, 5.34 ERA). Because of injuries in the rotation -- Price and LHP Chris Sale (6-11, 4.40 ERA), who was transferred Sunday to the 60-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, do not yet have a projected starter.
