The Yankees had to place Giancarlo Stanton on the IL once again after Wednesday's win, with manager Aaron Boone saying he sustained a PCL strain during Tuesday's contest against the Blue Jays.

And, according to GM Brian Cashman, he's going to need a good amount of time to recover from it.

Cashman told media members on Thursday that "it's going to be a while" for Stanton, who is unlikely to return in July. While the Yankees will definitely take it if he does come back next month, Cashman said August is "the sweet spot" to expect him back in the lineup.

Boone was optimistic Stanton would avoid another trip to the IL before Wednesday's game, telling reporters, "Tests were good -- came in today and there was no swelling in there."

Stanton just can't catch a break this season, as injuries have stunted his playing time. He went on the IL right after the opening series of the season with biceps strain. And during his rehab, he sustained shoulder and calf strains which is why he only just returned to the Yankees last week on June 18.

The 29-year-old played in six games since returning, going 7-for-23 with one homer, one double and three RBI.

Replacing Stanton on the roster isn't Clint Frazier, but rather Mike Tauchman who will take the trip to London for the Yanks' series with the Red Sox. Thairo Estrada and Kyle Higashioka will also make the trip across the pond.
