7/24/18 | Penguins coach, and former Rangers assistant, Mike Sullivan said that the Rangers are getting a "really good coach" in David Quinn. (NHL.com)

Sullivan and Quinn were teammates at BU in the late 80s and Sullivan aid that the Rangers are getting a "real competitive guy" that will "build relationships" and get the most out of players. (NHL.com)

He added that Quinn is a "real good coach, a good teacher. I think he's going to bring that to the table at the pro level with the young Rangers team." (NHL.com)

Sullivan said that Quinn's "biggest strength" is how he builds relationships and brings a love and passion of hockey to the rink every day. (NHL.com)

Quinn has drawn comparisons to Sullivan as a coach and has noted that he gets mistaken for the Penguins coach about "15 times a day.

Islanders President and GM Lou Lamoriello praised Quinn's ability to communicate and noted that the previous experience he has with some of the Rangers will help. (The Athletic)

"I have no doubt he'll have extremely great success. I wish him the best - except against one team." (The Athletic)

Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said that David Quinn's toughest adjustment will come with the difference in schedule between the NCAA and the NHL. (The Athletic)

He notes that Quinn is used to having a pretty "structured schedule" in college and that now he will be "playing every second night," traveling and having to deal with a lack of practice time. (The Athletic)

Cassidy said that it was something he had to deal with this past season, his first full season in the NHL as a head coach since 2002-03.(The Athletic)

Prior to joining the Bruins as an assistant and interim head coach in 2016-17, Cassidy was a head coach for Boston's AHL team for five seasons. (The Athletic)

He noted that at BU, Quinn dealt with "top-end talent" and will be "fine" dealing with "superstars." (The Athletic)

Matt Grzelcyk, who played for Quinn at BU, said that he is a "players coach and really wants to connect with you," adding that he teaches the "speed game" being played in the NHL "really well." (NY Times)

Patrick Harper and David Farrance, who played for Quinn at BU and are in the Predators system, both praised the Rangers coach as someone who helped them develop. (The Score)

Kevin Hayes noted that Quinn has reached out to him during his NHL career and that he is someone who holds everyone accountable and doesn't play favorites. (NYR)

Adam Rotter: It's hard to find many people, or really anyone, with things to say about Quinn that aren't glowing. He's extremely well respected for the success he has had, how he's developed players and his overall style of coaching. He has a lot of connections in the coaching world from his time at BU, as a player, assistant and head coach, he's coached on the international level and everyone that spends even a moment with him seems to come away a big fan. If he has anything close to the kind of success that Sullivan had with the Penguins or that fellow BU alum John Hynes is having with the Devils, the Rangers will be in a really good spot for a long time.
