Four points in your first two games of the season? Doesn't get much better than that, and that's exactly what Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad did to start the 2019-20 NHL season.

Zibanejad started his year with eight total points, an even split with four goals and four assists.

For his efforts, Zibanejad was named the First Star of the league's opening week to the season on Monday.

Thanks to Zibanejad's big part, the Rangers started the year with back-to-back wins.

In their season opener, Zibanejad had the game-tying goal in the third period in a 6-4 win over the Jets on Oct. 3. Two days later, the 26-year-old had a hat trick, including the eventual game-winning goal, in a 4-1 win over his former team, the Senators.

Zibanejad was the Rangers' leading scorer with 30 goals and 74 points last season. He's clearly no stranger to seeing his name on the score sheet, but Zibanejad said he is disappointed about one thing despite his start.

The Rangers last played on Saturday and then had a week off. The Blue Shirts don't return to the ice until the following Saturday when the Oilers visit MSG. Zibanejad would have preferred to keep his momentum going with a game a little bit sooner than that.

"We get some time off, worked on some stuff like we did today and get this week to kind of focus on the one game we have on Saturday. We're trying to look at it in a positive way even though we would like to keep playing," Zibanejad said. "But that's the schedule and we can't do anything about it. Unnecessary energy to waste."

Zibanejad's eight-point feat is the first time since the 1995-96 NHL season that a player notched eight points in their first two games. That came via former Ranger Jaromir Jagr, who had three goals and five assists with the Penguins that year.
