Another top free agent has escaped the Knicks, as Tobias Harris will return to Philadelphia to play for the 76ers, per his agent and father Torrel Harris.

Harris has agreed to a five-year, $180 million deal with the Sixers, who traded for him with the Clippers last season. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the deal doesn't include a player option.

Harris was a key component in the Sixers' postseason push last season, averaging 18.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists over 27 games in the regular season. In 12 playoff games, he had 15.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and four assists as well as 1.1 steals on the defensive end.

The Knicks had Harris on their list of free agents, but he was a second-tier option for them, per SNY's Ian Begley. But, with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving signing with the Nets, they may have pivoted to Harris.

Harris wrote a piece for ESPN to explain why he chose to re-sign. The soon-to-be 27-year-old has already played for five NBA teams in his career thus far, so settling down was what he was looking for this free agency. And he found his home in Philadelphia after last season.

"Every time I moved, I saw the bright side. Always, I saw opportunity," he wrote.

"Still, I want to be somewhere that I can call home. Finally, I can do that now: I'm a Philadelphia 76er."

The Knicks did make their first signing of the summer, another second-tier player in Julius Randle, Begley confirmed. The deal is worth $63 million over the next three years. Taj Gibson also agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal with the Knicks, and Wayne Ellington is another name in whom the Knicks have showed interest, according to Begley.
