Knicks legend and current Georgetown men's basketball head coach Patrick Ewing is out of the hospital after testing positive for coronavirus, his son announced Monday.

"I want to thank all of the doctors and hospital staff for taking care of my father during his stay, as well as everyone who has reached out with thoughts and prayers to us and since his diagnosis," Patrick Ewing Jr. shared on Twitter. "My father is now home and getting better. We'll continue to watch his symptoms and follow the CDC guidelines. I hope everyone continues to stay safe and protect yourselves and your loved ones."

The 57-year-old Ewing had shared his diagnosis Friday evening via a statement from Georgetown, saying "the virus is serious and should not be taken lightly."

An 11-time All-Star and 2008 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Ewing played his first 15 NBA seasons with the Knicks after being selected first overall out of Georgetown in 1985.

After spending time as an assistant coach with the Wizards, Rockets, Magic, and Hornets, Ewing returned to his alma mater to become head coach in 2017.
