Even with the Yankees splitting their weekend series against the Indians, the Bombers still own the best record in the MLB at 83-43.
But oddsmakers still have the Yanks underneath the Astros and Dodgers in the latest World Series odds, per Bovada.
At the start of the new week, the Astros still have the best odds to win it all at +220, while the Dodgers come in at +275. The Yankees' odds moved to +425 from +400 last week.
The main reason for the Yanks coming in at No. 3 on the list is likely due to the starting rotation, which oddsmakers seem to be hung up on. Houston and Los Angeles have better rotations, and that obviously means more in a five or seven-game series in October.
The Yankees did get CC Sabathia back in the rotation on Sunday, but he didn't have the comeback he had hoped for, allowing four runs over three innings. And at the start of the Cleveland series, the opener situation with Chad Green getting the start exploded in what turned out to be a 19-5 win for the Indians.
There is still time to figure things out for the Yanks, but not adding a rotation arm at the trade deadline is keeping the Astros and Dodgers ahead of the curve.
