The Yankees defeated the Mariners 7-0 on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park. >> Box Score
Four takeaways from Tuesday's game
1) Masahiro Tanaka was tremendous on Tuesday night. The right-hander did not allow a hit through the first four innings, and even after allowing a leadoff double to Kyle Seager in the fifth, he settled down to keep the Mariners off the board. Tanaka went seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits. He struck out seven Mariners and walked just one.
2) Aaron Judge got the Yankees' night started with a bang. Just two batters into the game, Judge destroyed a two-run home run to center field, his 100th career home run. Judge became the third-fastest player in baseball history to reach the century mark, trailing only Ryan Howard and Gary Sanchez.
3) Brett Gardner added to the power display later in the game. With two runners on in the top of the third inning, Gardner crushed a high fastball from Yusei Kikuchi over the wall in right field. Gardner's 18th home run of the season gave the Yankees a 5-0 lead in the third.
4) The top of the lineup had a big night for the Bombers. DJ LeMahieu, Judge, and Gleyber Torres each contributed two hits and each scored a run.
