Five takeaways from Tuesday's game

1) Chad Green opened this game, but was limited to one inning because he had to pitch in last night's contest. After Green's scoreless first inning, in came Nestor Cortes Jr. and he once again did his part, going 4 1/3 innings in which he allowed just two runs. The Green/Cortes Jr. tandem has become every bit as important as any one of the Yankees regular rotation members.

2) The Yankees set the MLB record for home runs by a team in consecutive games (28) with DJ LeMahieu's 11th home run of the season to lead off the Yanks' first inning. LeMahieu tripled in the Yankees' seventh, which boosted his American League leading average to .333.

3) Aaron Judge was given the day off Monday and it appears to have paid off as the club's right fielder homered into the right field seats directly after LeMahieu's blast. Judge added an opposite field single on the night. The two at-bats were easily Judge's best since returning from the injury list.

4) Gleyber Torres hit 25 home runs last season and with tonight's second inning shot, he already has 19 this season. Torres now has four home runs in his last eight games.

5) Edwin Encarnacion added an insurance run for the Yankees with an eighth inning homer into the short porch. Encarnacion's homer was his 24th of the season, which puts him one home run in front of teammate Gary Sanchez for the American League lead.
