Seven takeaways from Thursday's game

1) DJ LeMahieu hit a go-ahead two-run single with the bases loaded in the 10th inning while Gary Sanchez crushed a three-run homer to blow the game open as New York won for the 15th time in its last 17 games.

2) With a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning, Chapman gave up a one-out RBI double to Joey Wendle and threw two wild pitches with two outs that brought home the tying run. He then allowed two singles and a walk before striking out Austin Meadows with the bases loaded to force extras.

3) Gio Urshela led off the 10th inning with a walk while Aaron Judge followed with a 10-pitch walk of his own. Brett Gardner reached on a bunt single to bring up LeMahieu, whose single through the left side broke a 3-3 tie. Two batters later, Sanchez clobbered a 461-foot homer to the upper deck in left field off Emilio Pagan.

4) After Luis Cessa gave up a run and loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, David Hale got Yandy Diaz to ground into a force out to end the game.

5) J.A. Happ struck out five batters and allowed one run and three hits in 5 1/3 innings. After a first inning in which he threw 25 pitches, he settled down by only allowing one infield single and three walks the rest of the way.

6) Trailing 1-0 on Avisail Garcia's RBI double, the Yankees scored twice in the third inning off Yonny Chirinos. Mike Ford led off with a single, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on Mike Tauchman's RBI single. Tauchman advanced to second on a wild pitch with two outs, then scored on Aaron Hicks' double to right field.

7) Edwin Encarnacion made it a 3-1 game with a seventh-inning homer, his 25th of the season.
