Five takeaways from Thursday's Game 2...

1) CC Sabathia threw 56 pitches in just 3.1 innings during his first start since returning from the IL. The lefty allowed only two earned runs on three hits, ands struck out five batters. Domingo German then came in and struck out five batters on two hits, as he threw 50 pitches in four innings of work.

2) With strikeout No. 3,085 in the bottom of the second inning, Sabathia passed John Smoltz and now has the 16th most strikeouts in MLB history.

3) Aaron Judge hit his 22nd home run of season in the top of the first inning. It gave the Yankees an early 2-0 lead and they never looked back.

4) Gio Urshela came in to pinch hit for Mike Ford in the top of the ninth inning and blasted a two-run home run, giving the Yankees a 6-2 lead. It was home run No. 20 on the season for Urshela.

5) The Urshela home run made Aroldis Chapman take a seat in the bullpen, after the closer had begun to warm up for the save. However, he still ended up coming into game after Tommy Kahnle gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Chapman got the final two outs and his 37th save on the year.

What's next
