Five things to know from Saturday's game
1. Cole retired the first 11 batters of the game, including eight strikeouts, before allowing a two-out double to Jose Iglesias in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Cole allowed a solo home run to DJ Stewart in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead. It was Stewart's first hit in 17 at-bats this season. Cole has now allowed at least one home run in all nine starts this season.
2. Ryan Mountcastle delivered on a two out RBI double with the bases loaded to make it a 3-0 Orioles lead in the sixth. Then Rio Ruiz added two more runs to the O's lead with another double off Cole.
Because of a Thairo Estrada throwing error, Cole allowed just one earned run in the inning despite the Orioles scoring five runs.
The Yankees star pitcher ended the night with 10 strikeouts and allowed just four hits.
3. In just his second career start, Orioles starting pitcher Keegan Akin did his best to keep up with Cole by throwing 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out eight Yankees. He left the game after allowing a single to Clint Frazier and striking out Gary Sanchez.
Frazier was called out at third to end the top of the sixth inning after a throw in the dirt that needed replay to determine his foot came off the base.
4. Miguel Yajure came in to replace Cole in the seventh inning, and allowed a home run to the first batter he faced. Stewart, who launched his second homer of the night to give the O's a 6-0 lead.
5. Frazier gave the Yankees their only run of the night in the eighth inning with a solo home run to right field -- his fifth homer on the year. He ended the night 2-for-4 from the plate.
Kyle Higashioka was the only other Yankee to have multiple hits in the game, going 2-for-4.
