Five takeaways from Friday's game...
1) J.A. Happ has been very inconsistent all season long for the Yankees, and that was the case once again on Friday. The lefty allowed three homers to Randal Grichuk, Teoscar Hernandez, and Danny Jansen. In total, he allowed six earned runs in five innings. His ERA now sits at 5.48 for the season.
2) Mike Tauchman continues to provide a hot bat for the Yankees. After a huge series against the Orioles, Tauchman hit a solo home run in the fourth inning off of Sean Reid-Foley. The outfielder now has 12 home runs on the season. Mike Ford also hit a solo home run for the Yankees in the seventh inning, his third home run of the season.
3) Brett Gardner was ejected in the top of the fourth inning for arguing balls and strikes from the dugout. After Cameron Maybin went down looking on a questionable strike, Maybe voiced some displeasure from the dugout. The home plate umpire threw Gardner out, though it looked like Maybin was doing most of the talking.
4) With the loss, the Yankees' nine-game losing streak has come to an end. Prior to tonight, the Yankees' last loss came against the Diamondbacks on July 30.
5) D.J. LeMahieu did record two more hits from the Yankees' leadoff spot. LeMahieu's batting average on the season is now up to .340.
