The Yankees are coming off of a tough 8-4 loss to the Indians, where LHP CC Sabathia only lasted three innings in his first start since being removed from the DL. He allowed four hits and four runs, including a three-run home run, to go along with five strikeouts and three walks. Sabathia is now 5-7 on the season with a 5.01 ERA, and hasn't registered a win since June 24. RF Aaron Judge is still trying to break out of his recent slump, going 2-for-5 from the plate with a RBI double... however, he did strikeout twice. The team does still have the best record in the MLB at 83-43, and is behind only the Astros and Dodgers for the best odds to win the World Series.

Who is starting for the Yankees?

RHP Domingo German (16-2, 3.96 ERA) is looking to improve on his MLB-best 16 wins on the season, as the righty has won each of his last four starts. If German were to reach 20 wins on the season, he would become the first Yankee to do so since CC Sabathia did in 2010. However, there is the potential of an innings limit for German, which would hurt his chances of reaching 20 wins. He has thrown 116.0 innings so far this season, and his career-high was 124.1 innings back in the minors in 2014, but that was prior to his Tommy John surgery which caused him to miss the entire 2015 season.

Who is starting for the Athletics?

RHP Homer Bailey (10-8, 5.22 ERA) had a great outing on Aug. 14 against the San Francisco Giants, throwing 7.0 innings -- the most he's gone since joining the A's in July after getting traded from Kansas City. He allowed just two hits and struck out seven against the Giants, getting his 10th win of the season. His career-high for wins in a season is 13, from back when he was a member of the Cincinnati Reds in 2012.
