The Yankees have found their new pitching coach.

SNY's Andy Martino has confirmed that the Yankees are hiring Matt Blake as their new pitching coach. Blake was previously a pitching coordinator with the Indians and was also an area scout for the Yankees.

ESPN's Jeff Passan was the first to report the hiring.

Blake had been with the Indians for four seasons, three as the assistant director of player development and one as a lower level pitching coordinator. He was just recently promoted to director of player development with the Indians, and his known for his analytical apporach.

He's also previously served as an associate scout with the Yankees, though he was a high school pitching coach in Boston as recently as 2015.

According to Passan, the Yankees also interviewed University of Michigan's Chris Fetter, former big leaguer David Cone, and Arkansas' Matt Hobbs, while Arizona's Nate Yeskie and TCU's Kirk Saarloos turned down interviews.

Blake replaces Larry Rothschild, whom the team parted ways with following the 2019 season.

Yankees pitchers were very middle of the road in 2019. Though they finished fourth overall in strikeouts with 1,534, their 4.31 ERA was 14th in MLB and 12th in WHIP at 1.30.

The Yankees have yet to officially announce Blake's hiring.
